Music can be described in many different ways, art, feeling, and passion. Each aspect comes to life in Red War Memorial. Natives of New Iberia, Red War Memorial started with Brandon Maturin and Patrick Norris searching for dedicated musicians to share the stage with. After years of practice, learning technique and structure, the guys came across Brandon Christian on drums and Ryan Schultz on bass. After several months of rehearsal and countless hours writing the music that you hear now, it was time to enter the studio. The guys found vocalist Albert " Aj" Thibodaux as the last addition to the band. Recording the tracks after only 3 months in the band, catching on quickly to a new style in front of him. After the recording process the band was forced to make a change at drums calling on Blake Dugas to fill the spot. The Transition wasn’t difficult as the guys had already jammed with Blake in the beginning, and also Blake having experience with Aj in their old project “To Rise Above". This 5 piece project has put in the time and effort to be noticed around the local scene, and look to release their sound to the masses.
This year the guys are releasing their debut album entitled “American Tragedy", songs written about times of struggle and triumph in everyday life. Bringing forth a positive message of Courage, Honor, Strength, Power and Pride. The music being very technical and melodic gives the guys there own sound. Patrick and Brandon combine rhythm and groove along with weeping solos to give the music a solid structure with every aspect involved.Ryan Schultz brings his monstrous tones to the bass and backup vocals to the mix having a background in the early days of black metal. Brandon Christian is the drummer on the album, adding grove to the already unique style. Albert bringing fourth somewhat of a brutal vocal style mixing in clean vocals, most are not use to hearing from him in the past with his old project. Red War Memorial strives to be a well rounded group of solid and determined musicians. Red War Memorial has shared the stage with several of Louisiana’s top local acts such as the Guillotine Code, and Archeia, and has also had the pleasure of jamming with well known national acts such as Bury your Dead and In this Moment. Red War Memorial consists of 5 guys with the same love, passion and determination for music. They accept anyone and everyone that comes into their life with open arms. Perseverance is something the guys have come to know. Their hearts are true, and Faith is strong, in hopes to unleash their sound. Red War Memorial can be thrown into many categories, but they leave that up to the listener. Melody, Groove, and crushing breakdowns are the tools applied to make their style unique. The guys are looking to keep pushing, and do whatever it takes to be heard and respected as musicians. Never giving up, and always pushing forward, Red War Memorial will prevail.
