About Me
Nacido en Guantanamo, Cuba donde empieza su carrera musical a los 7 anos en la Escuela Vocacional de Artes " Regino Eladio Boti". Mas tarde continua sus estudios en la Escuela Nacional de Artes ENA en Ciudad de la Habana en la especialidad de Percusion graduandoce en 1989.
Compositor y arreglista musical,integrante de diferentes agrupasiones y proyectos como son el Grupo Sur Caribe, Conjunto Son 14, Proyecto Muralla, Conjunto de Percusion Cubana OMOLEGUA, Conjunto Folklorica de Oriente, Conjunto Folklorico Cutumba,Julio Padron y Afro Jazz, Mango Jam Jazz Band y fundador del Grupo XL.
Ganador de varios premios como percusionista y compositor en concursos nacionales como el Amadeo Roldan en la catagoria elemental y media superior. Ganador del premio a la mejor interpretacion de una obra cubana en las dos categorias. En el ambito internacional, Festival Percuba y en el concurso Panama Writer donde obtiene el premio en la categoria juvenil.
A gravado varios CD como solista y con diferentes proyectos. WATINA premio WOMEX y UMALALI voces garifunas son unos de los CD gravados con el proyecto Garifuna Collective donde actualmente se encuentra trabajando.
Integrante de la Orquesta Sinfonica Latinoamericana radicada en Costa Ricas.
A realizado giras a Europa,Asia,Norte America(USA y Canada), Centro America y el Caribe y America del Sur.
Padre orgulloso de cinco ninos (Carlos Jr.Eduardo, Carson, Cuba, Alma Perrote).
Actualmente vive en Belize, Centro America.
Perrote was born in Guantanamo, Cuba. At the age of seven, he was enrolled in the " Regino Eladio Boti " School for Vocational Arts. He continued his studies at the National School of Arts where he graduated and earned his degree in 1989 specializing en percussion. He is the proud father of five children-Carlos Jr., Eduardo, Carson, Cuba and Alma Perrote.
He is a composer and an arranger of music with the ability to integrate/incorporate the harmonic sounds from various groups and projects such as Caribbean South Group, Grace Steel Pan Orchestra, Conjunto Sur Caribe, Conjunto Son 14, Project Wall, Grupo Muralla, Conjunto Folklorico de Oriente, Conjunto Folklorico CUTUMBA, Grupo de Percusion Cubana OMOLEWUA, Julio Padron and Afro Jazz, Mango Jam Jazz Band, and the founder of the Grupo XL.
He has received several awards as a percussionist and a composer in national aids like the Amadeo Roldan both at the elementary and the superior mean levels. He has also won an award for his interpretation of a Cuban piece. Internationally, he has been recognized for his participation in teh Percuba Festival, Havana Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival and obtained a prize in the juvenile category in the aid Panama Music Writers. He has been involved to the making and recording of CDs both on his own and as part of projects. The " Watina " Garifuna Collective project was a well recognized tour to Europe, Asia, North America (USA and Canada), Central America, and south America. Watina received the Womex and the BBC radio tree award. He has also worked on the Umalali CD which blends the Garifuna Womens voices as one.
Perrote is still working with the Garifuna Collective Project and is also a member of the Latin American Symphony Orchestra which was established in Costa Rica.
At the moment he live in Belize City, Belize, Central America.
