~I am a very blessed lady. My wonderful husband and I have built our home on the Solid Rock of our Lord God, Jesus Christ. We have 3 beautiful children, on loan from God to train up for His glory. The Lord has made me queen of my home (and my husband, king)! I am proud to be a homemaker and a homeschooler (Charlotte Mason methods)! We are happy, content, and at peace (most of the time!) because of all the mercies that the Lord has shown us!!!One of my favorite hobbies is Bluebirding. I have my own bluebird trail of 6 nestboxes. My nestboxes are meant to attract native cavity nesters, such as bluebirds, blackcapped chickadees, tree swallows, and titmice! I monitor my trail all spring and summer to make sure only native cavity nesters are using my nestboxes to build nests, lay eggs, and raise and fledge their young. I keep records of the number of eggs laid by each native species, the number of eggs that hatch, and the number of young to actually fledge. I also must protect my trail from predators, such as the non-native House Sparrow and the European Starling. Once a year, I send all my records to the National Bluebird Society. My hobby of bluebirding brings me much joy, and also is a wonderful stewardship of the Lord's glorious creation!I also raise monarch butterflies during the summer. I plant a garden of milkweed, which is the host plant for the monach caterpillar. Monarch butterflies lay eggs on the milkweed. After the caterpillar hatches, it eats milkweed and grows. When the caterpillar is about 2 inches long, I put it in a bug house along with a milkweed leaf. Soon, the caterpillar hangs upside down and then forms a lovely jewel-like chrysalis! After a time, the chrysalis hatches into a beautiful monarch butterfly, which is then released into my garden!

"Two insitutions at present control our children's lives: television and schooling, in that order; both of these reduce real world of wisdom, fortitude, temperance, and justice to a never-ending, non stop abstraction. In centuries past, time of the child and adolescent would be spent in real work, real charity, real adventures, and the realistic search for mentors who might teach what you wanted to learn! A great deal of time was spent in community pursuits, practicing affection, meeting and studying every level of the community, learning how to make a home, and dozens of other tasks necessary to become a whole man or a whole woman." -John Taylor Gatto (New York City Teacher Of The Year)
