About Me
Fame Junkies is the culmination of many bands that Lawrence (known to some as Elvis, Elbow, Lorenzo, Larry, Lovro & Lencho) has been in.The first show billed as Fame Junkies originated at 169 Bar in 2000 (a place in the Lower East Side of New York City, commonly referred to as "The Bloody Bucket") with Joe Snow on Bass and Byron Frayne on Drums. A few "mercs" filled in on Bass till John Slaninka joined. That was a high school line-up, the 3 of us worked (catering is like school, ok?), played, ate and made fun of each other for about 4 years. Time passed, roles changed, tension, frustration, girls, alcohol, you name it, the dream/purpose changed or wasn't within reach.Kenny Craig was a steady force on drums for most of 2005, Dino Marcello (ism) has been a solid staple on Bass for the past 2 years when available. Luc Carl (Bona Roba), Micheal Higgins (ism), Angry Steve (countless NYC bands), Paul Lobel (The Dose) and Gregor have all contributed on Drums. Percussionist extrodonaire William Ruiz has lended his talents. Fabio (? bands in Italy) laid down some Bass when in the US a few times. Josh "The Joshua" Z (Sunday Shoes & Jeff Humphrey Trio) is a jack of all trades (including electric violin & keyboards) and the recording engineer for the upcomming Fame Junkies album! Trent Berry (Guitar & Bass in many San Fran, LA, Portland & Seattle bands, a few of them with me) has always been a secret weapon when available, making every Fame Junkie show as it should be, Jaw Droppin' Awesome! Many other musicians (I apologize if I didn't name you) have participated in one way or another to keep this "MACHINE" going. Thank You. Seriously. Some of the many places we've played at as Fame Junkies include Mercury Lounge, Arlene's Grocery, Pianos, Don Hill's, Continental and Pussy Cat Lounge (we're on their home page too, check the photo out).Well, I guess I got "held back in school" because I'm still doin' the same thing (and lovin' every minute of it). Fame Junkies is not about changing the world, soliciting donations or begging for adulation (all of that would be cool though). Fame Junkies is about one thing...ENTERTAINMENT.p.s. ok, "feeding" the "need" of that "inner voice" is important too.
