I love that Golden Era Hip-Hop('79-'97). My absolute fave album remains "Illmatic" by NAS. I'm also a Wu-Tang Clan fan. Ghostface Killah is my fave MC. I think that if Hip-Hop aint dead yet...it's on life support somewhere in the South. A grave has already been dug for H.E.R. I know the difference between a rapper and an MC. If you don't...study ya history. First and foremost, I'm Muslim. I love my community. I've been in Liberty City since Thanksgiving 1985 and it's become part of my heart and soul. I have dreams of the revitalization of the communities that raised me. Born Overtown...moved to the Brown Sub(Brownsville) at age 5...stayed in Little Haiti for a year(age 9-10)...now in The City since age 10. One of my exes(Candy) calls me a fitness freak. Maybe I am. Gotta take care of me. I flip every package over to scan the ingredients and nutritional facts. Most seem like an assignment from chemistry class. I love classic soul music...especially Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye, who's "What's Going On" is second to "Illmatic" on my faves list. I also love Bob Marley, who's "Exodus" is my third fave all-time. I love Neo-soul music as an an alternative to this sex-n-glitz driven R&B of today...It's reminiscent of classic soul music. I'm also a big jazz fan. I'm a big reader. Black History (ancient & contempory) is my passion. The Holy Qur'an is my fave book. I've read the English translation thrice. I'm a hopeless romantic who dispises golddiggaz. I'm allergic to 'em. I think gifts and generosity should be spontaneous and special. I'm hood to the core...but never ever call me "fool"...I dispise it as a term of endearment.I'm a proud member of Low Income Families Fighting Together (L.I.F.F.T.), which is involved in the struggle against the gentrification of Liberty City and the other low income neighborhoods of Miami-Dade county. Most of these government officials and corporations don't care ANYTHING about US. The sooner we realize that and stop strivin' with one another, the sooner we can eradicate this problem. We need economic self-sufficiency and community control of our tax revenues and a community land trust. This way we build power and wealth. We must elect representatives from amongst ourselves and hold them accountable for upholding their responsibilities toward the represented. This is a grassroots struggle. Those who have no idea where we are and where we come from can't lead us where we're goin'. GET UP...STAND UP! That's enough about Krow. Wanna know more? Holla!
