Originating from Maidstone in Kent, a town famed for generating an influx of talent currently flooding todays dance scene, Claire Ripley has one sole aim - to play and produce outstanding and unique underground music.
Claire has seen immediate success with her first demo being awarded DJ Mag Top Pick and her early productions being described as "very impressive stuff". describes her sound as ranging from laid back deep hypnotic beats through to acid riffs with driving basslines. During her DJ sets she likes to showcase the finest underground music ranging from deep house, tech house, progressive house, minimal and techno.
Previous DJ sets include warming up for James Talk, a three hour set at the Fling presents Annie Mac pre-party, Cubism at The Key with Perc and Rhythm Code , Boxing Day at the Egg, The Aquarium, as well as being resident for Phobic, the night to accompany the label.
Phobic Records was founded in March 2008 by Richard Belsom and Claire Ripley with a view to showcase some of the worlds greatest undiscovered talent alongside some of the best established names from the minimal, tech house and techno scene.
Phobic will be bringing you the freshest underground sounds of now, pure underground electronic dance music from the worlds greatest producers. Our philosophy is originality over obvious, obscurity over conventialism.
The first two releases feature awesome remixes from two producers in great demand, Tim Green (TG) and Rebekah. In addition to Djing, Claire has recently commenced on her own production work, with her first release being her remix of Cristian Padararu's Sharing Transparently also remixed by artists such as Rekleiner (Audiofly and Geddes). Her productions were also highlighted in DJ Mag as well as having support from artists such as Mike Monday, Anil Chawla, Neurotron, Ben Watt, Leigh Morgan (Urbantorque), Electronic Data Processing (Modelisme) to name but a few.
