Wyandotte Big Boy is located on the corner of Eureka and Biddle(West Jefferson for all you out-of-towners) Open till 1am
Wyandotte Big Boy was opened in November of 1969. With the help of Bill Sullivan, Lloyd Siler, Colleen Mintier and Skip Clack. The Darany Brothers, Joe, Chuck and George opened their Second Big Boy Restaurant on the corner of Biddle and Eureka. Big Boy is the first Major Restaurant chain in Wyandotte. While Chuck and George stayed at the Taylor location, Joe and Elaine Darany with their four wonderful children moved from Detroit to Grosse Ile to make the Wyandotte Big Boy a fine clean place for the whole family.
Wyandotte embraced the concept and the Big Boy became the place to meet in town. Whether you were on your first date or going out with the family after church, the Big Boy was and still is the place to be. The Big Boy has touched many lives in the Downriver area thanks in large part to the efforts of charter employees Mary Lou Drake, Denise Pappas and Dean Dakin. Joe and Elaine operated the Big Boy until 1980 when their son Sam, who had been working between the four Darany Big Boys, came home to Wyandotte to assume the helm.
In 1990 Sam and his wife Lil purchased the business and property on a 25 year land contract. Sam and Lil are very active in both Wyandotte and Grosse Ile.
The restaurant business is a tough demanding business. The truth is we are only as good as your last meal and that depends on all the people we work with. Everybody that works with us represents the whole and we have been very blessed with many wonderful hard working people.
