Afterimages

Our Group
Afterimages was first formed between friends Mike ( Mikey's Cheap Ambience ) and Drew ( dKa ) who wanted a new outlet for making music. Within the first week of recording other friends Jimmy ( Labyrinth System ) and Claudia joined in the creative process. Together our sound continues to progress as we mix more and more styles of music: psychdelic and indie pop, intelligent dance music, house, ambient, shoegaze, post-rock. The overall focus of this collective is to embrace the freedom of interpretation we have when recording. Though it's only us four right now we leave the group open to our close friends who wish to be apart of the creative process.
Our Creative Process
You could say we create two things: e-mail music and/or exquisite corpse music. Mike starts every song at his house by creating the overall beat structure/keyboard structure of the track. He then e-mails that structure over to the apartment studio where Drew layers it with vocals, field-recordings, and other ambient textures. From there the track gets sent over to Jimmy's place where he layers it with guitars. Claudia usually does her vocals at the apartment studio. In the end, all of the seperate sound tracks are sent to Drew where he composes them together into a finished song.
