The Devil's Playground is a mercurial group of musicians who are as varied as their music. What was once a traditional duo has become a full-size evolutionary band, one that adds to its sound with every musical form, performer and genre with which it comes in contact.Devil's Playground, begins with founders Tan and Righteous. Inspired by contemporary hip-hop, but concerned by its ever-narrowing boundaries, the duo set out to record what they felt lacking in modern rap music. When it came time to take their music before a crowd, the decision to add live instrumentation was clear. The need to grow, not only in size but in musicality, prompted the additions of guitarist Arnold Strickland, bassist Chulo Gatewood, drummer Henning Stumm, keyboardist Dan Policar, and vocalist eXonda. Having expanded instantly from duo to septet, Righteous and Tan was transformed into the Devil's Playground, an afterlife for those beaten to death by the conventions and restrictions of most popular music. Influences come from all over: R&B, heavy metal, Rock, hip-hop, reggae -- everywhere.

Their sound is fresh. Their message is clear. Their time is now.
