WENDYKURK released their debut album SOFT MEAT for Ankst Musik Records in September 2003 through Shellshock Distribution. The album's six tracks were recorded over an intense three day recording period at the magical Bryn Derwen studio with engineer and producer David Wrench.
The band became notorious in Wales for their visceral live performances, outlandish appearance, youthful anger and for just scaring the shit out of most people who see their extraordinary live shows. Make no mistake WENDYKURK were a very special band. Formed in Holyhead at the beginning of the new millenium the band refined their musical style to create something that was altogether new and exciting.
SOFT MEAT is a brutal and unrelenting album containing some truly breathtaking rock music. From the 'fuck you' manifesto in screaming that is Violet Introspection and the incredibly brutal Dogbones, to the poppy and almost commercial Sometimes and Freckles nestling next to the epic rock swagger of Aurora and Chain Of Daisies. The whole album is dynamic and challenging with singer Nomi's extraordinary vocals carrying all before her.
The band have recorded various radio sessions including BBC Radio 1 sessions and have been featured on the underground satellite music station ORG TV (the promo video for Freckles), Wendykurk was also hand picked by Mark Almond for his TV show 'Shotgun slideshow'.The band were aso featured in ROCKSOUND and KERRANG and were generally hailed hailed as one of the most vital of the new breed of UK rock bands that made an impact in 2003.

Impressive malevolent wrath from twisted Welsh mob. One listen to 'Soft Meat', the debut album from twisted metallers Wendykurk will leave you in no doubt that this Welsh crew weren't born with enough middle fingers. From the howling banshee vocals of frontwoman Nomi to the dense, despairing soundscapes right through to the album packaging this is one band that positively drips disdain and rancid nihilism. Soft Meat is delightfully putrid. There are the rough edges you would expect from a low budget debut, but they don't hold back the torrent of bile and discord that Wendykurk have in spades. This one will be giving you nightmares for weeks.
KKK - Mark Griffiths / KERRANG!
'Dark and romatic' - Mark Almond
