About Me

a I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
Born in Santa Clara, Cuba, Roberto Vazquez always had a special interest in music. He began his education at The National School of Music in Havana where he studied French horn, Sight Singing, Music History and Piano. After attending this school for six years he left with a degree in music and gained international touring experience with the chamber choirs tour de Sweden. In 1990 Roberto Vazquez became a founding member of the famous group VOCAL SAMPLING. But soon he realized that his dream was to become a Jazz pianist. Roberto arrived to Valencia, Venezuela in 1993 and began playing with the Carabobo Symphonic Orchestra. During this time he also worked as piano instructor at the academy owned by Venezuelan singer ILAN CHESTER. Upon his arrival to the States in 2000, he yearned to expand his knowledge. So he began studying jazz piano performance with a scholarship to FIU under the direction of MIKE ORTA. A few years later Roberto left the country on a jazz tour in Indonesia. In Miami, Roberto has performed with some famous Latin artists such as RICARDO and ALEJANDRO MONTANER, FRANCISCO CESPEDES, MALENA BURKE, ALBITA RODRIGUEZ, MEME SOLIS, etc. He has also worked with well-known American jazz percussionists SAMMY FIGUEROA and ED THIGPEN. Currently, he is working in the Las Vegas show “LEGENDS IN CONCERT”, and continues to be very involved in South Florida’s local music scene.
