are extremely minuscule phrases attempting to describe that which is the essence of……Young-StARyan, Nicholas Appleton or “Young-StA†as he is most typically referred to, was born April 29, 1989 in Chicago, Illinois to LeNard and Lorraine Appleton. He is the younger of two siblings, Brandon and Brittany.Raised in a very musical family, it was apparent early in his childhood that he would be a natural addition to its rich musical history. Young-StA began singing as early as 3 years old and participated in various preschool and grammar school presentations. His interest in rap was initially cultivated in a 1999 church music festival where he was featured in a rap song, Everlasting to Everlasting, created by his father. Unknown to all, this would represent the making of a lyrical genius.Young-StA’s artistic abilities continue to be enriched and have included noted skill in acting, drawing, and spoken word poetry. In 2002, he and his brother decided to sign-up for a talent show contest showcasing their unique rap styles and by unanimous vote came in first place. Shortly thereafter, with the addition of his sister, inspirational rap group ZION was formed.As a featured artist in ZION, Young-StA has performed in various churches, outdoor fests, musicals, youth services, as well as the renowned Chicago Gospel Festival. He was known to frequently “shut down†the lunchroom at Simeon Vocational High School during many of the rap battles. His rap style is genuinely received and honored by young and old alike wherever he is allowed to speak. Young-StA aspires to complete his greatly anticipated solo project in the attempt to reach and impact a much larger audience.
