About Me

I started out as a child, and quickly turned into a guitar playing teen ager. I majored in music in college. Well, actually most of my studies revolved around the two Gs; Guitars and Girls.
It seems I've found it to my advantage to learn to play a little bit of lots of music on several different instruments. Some one once quipped "Most people like to see how many songs they can play on one instrument. Krause likes to see how many instruments he can play on one song." I guess there's some truth to that. And somewhere along the way, I turned to song writing, too.
Future directions? I've decided to plug in, so to speak. I made that decision after a couple of friends of mine, independently of each other I might add, advised me that I ought to add an electric guitar to my collection. After due consideration, I settled on the Rickenbacker model 360/12 string guitar. I just love that chime and jangle. I'm very excited to be adding this fine instrument to some future recordings.
Currently I can be heard and seen playing fiddle and mandolin, and singing in the old time country band The Euphoria String Band . I also direct and perform with another group called the Kaw Valley Fife & Drum Corps . As far as gainful employment, I teach banjo, guitar, fife, and fiddle at the Americana Music Academy in Lawrence, Kansas.
