About Me
In an era where many of the O.G.’s of hip-hop deem the Next Generation Artists as “talentlessâ€, “unoriginalâ€, “auto tuned outâ€; a New Jack emerges on the scene demolishing those ideas, and proving to the world that he is indeed an Artist with skills that are cut from a different cloth.
Our story begins sometime during the 80’s, overseas in Huntington England where two parents gave birth to a baby boy, naming him Jance Payne. With Jance’s father being in the Air force, the family eventually relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan when he was just three years old.
Although his parents later divorced, his mother raised him solely while his father still remained in his life. Jance led a pretty normal childhood, but at the age of six, he stumbled across something that would forever impact his life; a CD. After being introduced to numerous genres of music through his father, young Jance would eventually take this passion and craft it into something greater.
Donning the nickname “Peezâ€, he attended numerous schools in the Grand Rapids area eventually graduating from Ottawa Hills High School. Still cultivating an infatuation for music, Peez eventually decided to pursue rap. After positive feedback from family and friends, he decided that this may be the ideal career for him.
While Peez was still very passionate about rap, he was pushed even further by his best friend, Frank, who Peez recalls one day waking him out of his sleep to record a song with him. With the knowledge that his peers were definitely appreciating his work as an artist, he took it one step further and sent music samples of his work to Fabolous’ protégé and new comer Freck Billionaire.
To his pleasant surprise Freck promptly responded back with nothing but positive reviews, complementing Peez on his flow, and word play. Freck’s reaction to Peez’s music signaled that it was time for him to seriously pursue rap as a career.
Now inked to Freck Billionaire’s CBL Stars Worldwide, Peez, a.k.a. “Brett Barsâ€, is introducing himself to the world as “an Artist separated from other Artistsâ€. While he enjoys doing hood songs and songs for the females alike, he considers himself in a totally different lane than other rappers. This is due to the way he converts universal themes into powerful messages complete with unique wordplay and swag. He also describes that his ability to convey powerful messages are due to the fact that he is driven by his experiences, being good or bad.
While currently anticipating his upcoming release on CBL Stars Worldwide, On My PEEZ and Q’s, Peez has already crafted some impressive tracks with producers such as Young Thrilla, G.R.E.E.D., and Ghost Da Hustla. While Peez is confident with the music that he has recorded recently (including his upcoming single I Stay Flea), he still believes that he has a lot more grinding to do. In addition, he would like the opportunity to work with many other artists in the industry including Fabolous, Jay-Z, Eminem, Drake, Kid Cudi, and Big Sean.
Yes, Peez has had quite a journey since his discovery of music up until his signing to CBL Stars Worldwide. However, his journey is far from over. “I want to leave a stain on the game that you can’t get offâ€, he exclaims.
In today’s game, you have your cookie cutter rappers and your Artists with fabricated stories. However, with Peez’s continual ability to produce real material through his constant work ethic, these rappers will suddenly have to deal with an uncontrollable force that stands out from the norm. They better be ready.
