LaKisha Nichelle

Lakisha Nichelle (Singer/Songwriter) was born and raised in Memphis TN. She discovered her passion for music at the tender age of five. Her roots stemmed from the church where she led her first solo at the age of eight. By the time she reached Junior High School she was well known around school because of her singing talents. Her teachers, amazed by her talent, arranged for her to sing the National Anthem at a Memphis Chicks baseball game in 1994. This opportunity marked a major milestone in her life and she was grateful to her teachers for pushing her to delve deeper into her passion for music. In the summer of 1995, Lakisha auditioned and was accepted into Overton High School’s Creative and Performing Arts Program. It is here that Lakisha found an even greater passion for music. Being introduced to several different styles of music, Lakisha participated in six choirs which allowed her to grow musically each year. She received several honors such as Superior Ratings for solo performances in Solo & Ensemble, and was selected to be in the All-West, All-State, and Grammy Jazz Choirs. Lakisha currently performs each month at Poetry Rhythm and Soul, an entity formed with two of her friends, Charles and Anthony Fleming. She can also be seen performing at various venues throughout Memphis. She is working on recording some of her original works, so be on the lookout for her first album! Stay Tuned!
