Ziggy Stardust, Alladinsane, Major Tom, the Thin White Duke, the Man who Fell to Earth, the Earthling….all masks of an actor - the Cracked Actor, David Bowie. The influence David Bowie has had over rock music, and perhaps our culture itself, is immeasurable. David’s ability to reinvent himself while challenging the world of music and art, pushing the boundaries as it were, guarantee him a permanent place in the history of entertainment.
It is with this belief that Diamond Dogs – The Sound & Vision of David Bowie exists. Diamond Dogs is a seven piece musical group that tributes the entire career of David Bowie in both Sound and Vision. Diamond Dogs performs all of his hits: Space Oddity, Ziggy Stardust, Young Americans, Ashes to Ashes, Let’s Dance, China Girl, I’m Afraid of Americans, etc., as well as fan favorites: Life on Mars, Moonage Daydream, Time, Station to Station, Stay, Always Crashing in the Same Car, etc., and material from his more recent recordings: Hearts Filthy Lesson, Hallo Spaceboy, Survive, etc. All Diamond Dogs’ performances include a visual recreation of David’s stage personas mentioned above as well as other eras of his career including: the Berlin period, Serious Moonlight to the most recent Reality.
Rich Kline (as David Bowie) - Vocals / Guitar
My introduction to the music of David Bowie happened in a friend’s basement in 1975, listening to, ironically enough, “Diamond Dogsâ€. I have been fascinated by Bowie’s music and career ever since. My musical career began as a drummer/percussionist in 1979. After years of cover and original bands, I came out from behind the drum kit, ala Phil Collins, as lead vocalist in 1995. I found my vocal strength in singing David Bowie’s material. Simultaneously, I began performing in live theater. Among my credits, I have portrayed several roles (Judas, Pilate & Herod) in various productions of “Jesus Christ Superstarâ€, Riff-Raff in “The Rocky Horror Showâ€, and have appeared in “The Who’s - Tommy†and “Hairâ€. “Diamond Dogs – The Sound and Vision of David Bowie†allows me to combine Theater and Rock & Roll. I truly hope that my performance in “Diamond Dogs – The Sound & Vision of David Bowie†indeed brings the “Sound and Vision†of David Bowie to his fans and initiate new fans to an amazing catalog of music. Thank you David. Cheers!
