BIOGRAPHYZoltan Wilhelm : Progressive Music ArtistWilhelm has become one of the best progressive and minimal artist in his field. From residencies to music festivals, Wilhelm has reinvented the Electro scene.Born Zoltan Wilhelm, on October 25, 1979 in Budapest, Hungary. He started his career at the end of the 90’s. After 2 years in his bedroom, he got his break at the Cultural Centre in Budapest. He got a monthly residency at the height of the Speed Garage scene.
After a break, in 2002 at the Onodi Private club in Budapest, Wilhelm was inspired again where he became resident DJ. Here he met DJ Oyle and DJ Garbo who showed him Progressive Psyhedelic Trance. Invitations to parties gave insight into the party culture and he started to play Psyhedelic Trance.Soon after he became resident DJ for the underground,Kuplun Bar in Budapest for one and a half years. He started mixing Minimal Techno with Jazz. Word started to get round of his mad genius. Summer festivals bought new friendships, Wilhelm found a music dealer called Gabez which bought more Progressive Pression. At the same time Planktone invited him to play in the Oszi Saloon Cafe and Gallery.
Wilhelm then got a twice weekly slot with Planktone and Deeter.
He played Jazz weekdays and Minimal, Electro, Breakbeat and Progressive music in the weekend. Wilhelm and Deeter went on set up the Askarabaskara Crew.
In 2004 at the famous Dorka-Kozma Raypainting Production (Patron of the State) 2004 Wilhelm played chillout music. Dorka enjoyed it thoroughly and invited him to play again in 2003.The Askarabaskara Crew organised a 4 day festival.
In Summer 2005, Origo.party.hu the popular website started to organize parties (Ocho nights) in a boat. Wilhelm became resident DJ alongside Garbo, Oyle, and Planktone.
During this summer, Wilhelm also played in the Sziget festival, the most popular festival in Hungary and renowned all over Europe. At the same time the 'Origo' DJ’s started playing together in other clubs and at parties,(Vasmacska, Tuzraktar). Then, Wilhelm compiled his first mix of Electrohouse and Breakbeat.
In 2006, Wilhelm left Hungary for London. He fabricated new mixes ie. Easy Listening, Drum&Bass,and Electrohouse styles. He got an opportunity to play In the Long Room launch in London with a chill out programme. In October the Askarabaskara crew started organising parties at the Public Life Club in London twice monthly where he spun Tech House ,Minimal, Electro House. Wilhelm then started working together with Moody and the Japanese Buddhahood. The Askarabaskara Project added the Japanese DJ Hugo who played back to back with Wilhelm. Successful parties took the DJ duo to Hungary for the No Man's Land Festival. The festival line-up included the best Progressive and Minimal Artists who remain hot on the European and Japanese underground scene. At this festival, the Electronic scene had a surprise, Hungarian Vs Japanese. 2009 July: Total Eclipse Japan, Augustus, secret party in Kent UK, September Furthur gathering Spain
Today DJ Wilhelm is now Wylhelm and he continues to spin and compile groundbreaking Beats!
