About Me

..“Sho” which means hot, has never let his desire for a better life ‘cool off’. Shoboy, born on 22 September 1984, is the true ambassador or Southern Rap. Faced with challenges and opposition since day one, Shoboy’s story is truly one of rising from the bottom to top turning his life changing events into the inspiring force behind his music. Having lost his parents to a tragic accident and then separated from his siblings at a young age, his new family consists of his two sons and a daughter. Shoboy constantly strives to create a brighter future for himself and his children. Growing up in Pine Hills, Florida a.k.a. Choppa City, life’s rewards were seldom handed to you and were usually the result of blood and sweat. The challenges of the street life, earning stripes in the streets and even facing the possibility of incarceration in this sometimes volatile community has proven to be too much for some. For Shoboy it has just added more stepping stones to his journey. He is fueled by a spirit of hustle, determination, and strong ambition. Shoboy knows what it takes to overcome obstacles and achieve goals. He has never lost sight of his vision of becoming a world role model, showing others that there is a better way. Shoboy’s musical inspirations range from many different rappers, such as 2-Pac, Scarface, Ludacris and Jay-Z, while he creates a sound and style unique to himself. His music reflects the struggles and ambitions of young men across the globe. In Shoboy’s music you get a sense of the pain and passion, he uses it as an outlet. With the assistance of Bekenty and Billy Jean Baptiste (family members) and former manager, Hani Sudunga, Shoboy was introduced to Eric and Susan Schilling. They were responsible for some of the biggest hits in the music industry from artist like Gloria Estefan and Shakira. Shoboy then went on to sign his first production agreement with Norfolk, and at age 21 he obtained his first production deal. Certified street buzz came in 2008 with the release of two blazing mix-tapes (Let Me Out of the Trunk and Terrorist Threat), outstanding stage presence and versatile style that is all Shoboy. His company, Swamp House Entertainment, (which brings you the Zoe Independence Day annually) is respected for its grind, promotion and constant street presence. Shoboy has hosted the television show known as Street Jamz and has earned spins on WJHM 101.9 a.k.a. 102 Jamz. His single Sip Slow can be caught on most underground Florida stations. Shoboy has been the opening act for such artists as Pastor Try, Khia, Rich Boy, Plies, Three 6 Mafia, Rick Ross and Young Buck. Shoboy is constantly living up to his motto, “I got next.” With the closing of 2009, Shoboy plans to release three more mix-tapes from his Back by the Streetz series; Christmas Day is the expected release of the 100 LP. He is planning the release of a movie and book for the second quarter of 2010. Be on the lookout for these upcoming ventures, and then some!
