Whether singing in a church choir or sharing the stage with some of gospel music’s top recording artists, Andrea Dumas is a vessel for God's song. Hailing from Morristown, New Jersey, Andrea grew up attending church and in a home that was full of music. It wasn’t until she went to college, however, that she realized how much she loved to sing and loved gospel music. While attending the University of Maryland, Andrea was an active member of the university’s gospel choir. Being in the choir was instrumental in drawing her closer to God. It was during this period of her life that she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and committed to singing for Him.
After college, Andrea sang with Washington, DC's own Maurette Brown Clark and Steve Lawrence & Friends. Her time with them as well as the participation in her church’s music ministry served as a catalyst for growth in her life, both musically and spiritually. Since that time, Andrea has participated in several community choirs, ensembles and has served as a praise and worship leader.
For the last five years, Andrea has been a background singer with two of gospel music’s most notable figures, Yolanda Adams and Richard Smallwood. As a background singer and member of Vision, she’s had the opportunity to minister on stages all over the world; having traveled to 15 countries, participated in several national tours, appeared on many national television programs and even sang at the White House. Most recently, Andrea was featured as a guest soloist on Isaiah Thomas & Elements of Praise's latest CD, "The Greatest".
When she is not traveling, she can be found singing at her church, Greater Mt. Calvary Holy Church in Washington, DC. In addition, Andrea is currently working on her much anticipated freshman project.
