I am here for Friends

About Me

I was an airline brat (both of my parents worked for TWA) during my youth; I first met my husband, Gunnar, at Rodney (on the ROQ) Bingenheimer's English Disco in June of 1974, and first read about Rodney's club in the June, 1973 issue of Star magazine (Star was an infamous groupie rag published by the same company as the squeaky-clean 'Teen magazine--only five issues were turned out before it was laid to rest, and the June issue was the last to be circulated); I have been married to Gunnar for 25 years, and we have been together for 33 years; during the Summer of 1975, I worked for Fred Slatten (who designed the best platform shoes, ever) at his shoe store on Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood with Judy and Nicole; I love rock'n'roll; I have four younger sisters; I am crazy about Shiro, my West Highland White Terrier; I have been a Betsey Johnson fan/customer since 1971. Thanks to my friend, Cristiana, I was able to meet Betsey personally at her Melrose Avenue store in the Spring of 2004, at which time I presented her with an extremely rare Paraphernalia dress I purchased on eBay that she designed in 1966. Check out her message to me in response to my gift on page two of my photos ;D A very sweet lady named Sherwood, whom we met at the event, was kind enough to take some really great pictures of the meeting; I lived in Tokyo, Japan with my family from the Summer of 1970 through the Summer of 1971. While living there, three of my sisters and I attended Nishimachi International School, and between March and June of 1971, I was a seven-time cover girl for Japan's "Seventeen Weekly" magazine. The highlight of my little modeling career was seeing David Cassidy's picture on the other side of one of my covers--I was a huge Partridge Family fan back in the day!FUN FACTS: 1) I was acquainted with Mary Chapin Carpenter at Nishimachi International School in Tokyo, Japan, during the 1970-71 school year; 2) Gunnar and I were extras in Cheech & Chong's movie "Up in Smoke"; 3) Gunnar and I were involved in an altercation with a bouncer at the last Sex Pistols show with Sid Vicious (at San Francisco's Winterland in January of 1978--I gave the jerk-off a swift knee to the family jewels;), which can be seen in the movies "D.O.A." and "The Filth and the Fury"; 5) Legendary groupie Sabel Starr, Shannon, Vanessa, Diana and I were in a photo shoot with Rodney Bingenheimer in the Spring of 1975, and two of the photos from that day are shown in the movie about Rodney entitled "Mayor of the Sunset Strip". Those same two pictures were used for the soundtrack cd; 6) My late brother-in-law, Dennis Danell, was in the band Social Distortion for over 20 years, until the day he died (2/29/00). RIP DxDx P.S. Check out the MySpace tribute page I started for Dennis when you get a minute. I'm planning to upgrade it very soon by adding more pictures, some music and a bio...stay tuned ;D
