About Me

One of the most famous and obscure bands from Florence (Italy). They started to play aprox around 1985-6 with a different line up,including Aquila on the lead guitar and Pise on drums. at their very first gigs they played an hard boiled mix of heavy garage rock with hardcore influences. They were banned from a local battle of the bands for having started a big fight with the audience. The day after that show,every local newspaper reported that Dum Dum Power was one of the most incredible and dangerous bands in town. In 1989 Dathys B. (lead guitar) and Aldo Mye (drums) joined the band. Fights at every concert were usual. The band changed its name from Dum Dum Boys to Dum Dum Power and started to play a sort of heavy mental distorted rock. From Edgar Broughton to Cramps, from Stooges to Comus, from Slits to Cpt. Beefheart the band was involved in xperimenting a new form of rock playing. In 1991 Dathys B. was forced from the italian laws to join the army. He spent a whole year in a operative corp. Dr. Z, a guitar player from a garage freak band called Flinstones, joined Dum Dum Power to help them playing some gigs. When, Daythys B. was back the band started to be involved in folk songs. In 1992 the band entered in a recording studio to work at their very first album. (story to be continued)
