Symplistik

About Me

Music, Mixes, Talent, and Passion — four words Symplistik uses to describe the instant connection he feels, every time a song moves across his turntables. Symplistik’s journey began at age eight with an introduction to the art of blending music at a family house party. He inherited two antiquated turntables and a mixer from his uncle; and love for music was in the air. Ready to share his talent with the world—at this time better known as his high school peers, he played for school functions and local house parties. And the doors to the rest of the world did open quickly.
Starting with an invitation to play for his uncles masquerade band in Trinidad, Symplistik’s musical love affair began to take form. Although at the age of seventeen, this seemed like the biggest event of his career, it was only his beginning.
The year 1998 proved to be the year that shaped the next phase of the man we call Symplistik; taking this DJ to the radio. His time as a student at St. John University, majoring in Communications & Mass Media led him to the airwaves of WSJU 590AM and to the field of on-air radio work. After spending a few years working as a radio personality, Symplistik stepped away from the industry for a while. Of course he could not stay away from his one true love. He soon merged his talent with First Choice to form the powerhouse; Essential Sounds. The group of DJs was ready with every style of music asked of them; and New York’s response was electric. Symplistik continued shaping and molding his talent; recording mix-tapes and specializing in 70’s, 80’s & 90s Pop, Hip-hop, Disco, R&B, Reggae, Calypso, Soca and House music. Symplistik reinvents himself with every step of his career, transitioning into a cross genre DJ with ease. Whether it’s playing Carnivals across the United States or entering Hip-Hop DJ competitions, the choice is simple—better yet, the choice is Symplistik!!
