About Me

From Emcee to Producer, Phatz the Eyekkon has always had a passion about music. As a young child, he was trained by a classical pianist. He would soon move away from the piano and work on his emceeing skills. His canning lyrical ability and smooth play with words created a buzz all around the campus of Hampton University. Soon after, he and 3 of his college mates formed a group called No Phade. The group achieved a bit of popularity which landed them in the school newpaper as well as talent showcases at other neighboring campuses. Their greatest achievement came when they were blessed with opening for A Tribe Called Quest. After much success, the group was signed to an independent label which later folded before the group could release their first album. Due to the devastation, the group disbanded. Phatz refocused himself on music production. For the past several years, he was been doing tracks for local artists and also a number of artists on the internet. His small following describes his sound as somewhat “classic”. It’s influenced by a plethora of different emcees and producers Phatz grew up listening too, Rakim to Biggie from Native Tongues to Ruff Ryders, Producers like Large Professor to Pete Rock to Premier to Kanye West and everything in between. He describes his sound as being “eclectic”. It embodies what beats are supposed to be like. It's a mixture of beats and basslines with melodies and strings, it's reminiscent of the sample age when all it took was a hot loop and drum track to get the job done. Phatz is dedicated to making it more than just noise with somebody spittin' the same ole rhymes as everyone else. It's meant to be heard and appreciated, so if you stripped away the vocals you would be left with the essence. Welcome to the world of Phatz the Eyekkon allow him to change what you are currently listening too and bring you into the sound of the future.
