About Me

By 1973, Luis Alberto Spinetta was firmly established as one of the main voices of argentine rock movement, having released classic after classic with Almendra ("Almendra" 1969, "Almendra", double, 1970), solo ("Spinettalandia y sus amigos" released in 1972) and Pescado Rabioso ("Desatormentándonos" 1972, "Pescado 2" 1973). After the break-up of Pescado Rabioso in 1973, Spinetta recorded "Artaud" with the help of ex-Almendra musicians and his brother Carlos Gustavo. "Artaud" was released under Pescado´s name, and is perhaps the best south american rock album of all time. By mid-1973 he formed Invisible, with ex-Pappo´s Blues musicians: Héctor Lorenzo (Pomo) on drums and Carlos Rufino (Machi) on bass. Before Pappo´s Blues, Pomo have played with the mythical "Abuelos de la Nada" ("Diana divaga"/"Tema en flu sobre el planeta" 1968), the Spinettalandia album and La Pesada del Rock, and Machi have been a member of legendary garage group Los Walkers. By the end of 1973, Invisible have debuted live, and in March 1974 a first single was released ("Elementales leches"/"Estado de coma") in advance of the first LP ("Invisible", coming with a bonus single: "La llave del mandala"/Lo que nos ocupa es esa abuela, la conciencia que regula el mundo"). By the end of 1974, another single was released: "Oso del sueño"/"Viejos ratones del tiempo". In 1975 they released the second LP, "Durazno sangrando" and an excellent cover of Tango´s "Amor de primavera" was featured in a compilation. By 1976, guitar player Tommy Gubitsch (from Generación Cero) joined the group. They released the last album that year: "El jardin de los presentes" and added to his very own brand of prog sound, the influence of tango, in music and lyrics. Their farewell concerts featured Juan José Mosalini and Rodolfo Mederos on bandoneon and Gustavo Moretto (from prog rockers Alas) on keyboards. All three LPs from Invisible are a must for any serious prog rock/music listener, as well as Almendra ´s and Pescado Rabioso´s records.
