About Me
He began in the late sixties performing the common beat style in vogue, releasing various singles, backed by Los Shakers members and Los Guantes Negros. Under the nickname of Billy Bond (his real name was Giuliano Canterini), he released two LPs: "Yo, Billy Bond" (1968) and "Las dos caras de Billy Bond" (1969). By the end of 1969 he formed his most famous group, Billy Bond y La Pesada del Rock and Roll (or Billy Bond y La Pesada del Rock, Billy Bond y La Pesada or simply La Pesada). La Pesada was a kind of open group where nearly every rock musician of the time played, functioning too as a studio backing band for many artists of the era: Raúl Porchetto, David Lebón, Sui Generis, Claudio Gabis, Alejandro Medina, Jorge Pinchevsky, Pappo´s Blues and others. Amongst the musicians who played in La Pesada´s records and gigs were Luis Alberto Spinetta, Pappo, Javier MartÃnez, Pomo, Black Amaya, Vitico, Pinchevsky (he later moved to Europe and joined french proggers Gong), Alejandro Medina, Claudio Gabis, Luis Gambolini, Kubero DÃaz, and others, always under the control of Billy Bond. In 1970 the first volume was released featuring classics such as "Salgan al sol" and "Cada dÃa somos más". In 1972 , a second volume was released: "Billy Bond y La Pesada- rocks+blues+rocks+rocks", containing tracks like "La máquina" and "La pálida ciudad", and his banned version of military march "La Marcha de San Lorenzo", and another LP credited as La Pesada, called "Buenos Aires blus". Also this year, a famous incident occured, when in a famous venue, Billy urged the people to move from the cheaper seats to the empty places. When the police began to stop the kids, Billy Bond shouted his famous phrase: "Rompan todo, chicos!" (Break it all, kids!). The following LP was an experimental effort based on the incident: "Tontos (operita)" 1972. The LP featured only one real song, the classic "Tontos" (Fools). In 1973, the volume four was released, featuring the songs "Concientemente todo, todo lo podrás lograr", "No nos paran más" and others. In 1975, Billy Bond produced a symphonic version of Vox Dei´s La Biblia, with full orchestra, singers and La Pesada musicians. He moved to Brazil were released another version of "La Biblia" and other records: "Billy Bond and the Jets" (1979) and "Quienes son ellos" (1982). "Buenos Aires blus", "La Biblia" and a La Pesada´s compilation were reissued, and the four volumes of Billy Bond y La Pesada are very hard to get and never were reissued.
