In the Living Room (Jim Porter)

About Me

As with all facets of life, music and musicians are always changing, evolving, reflecting, listening, wanting, complaining! and most importantly, enjoying creating music. Life has A funny way of throwing curve balls at us all know & then. Musicians come and go, they move they get girl friends or jobs with crappy hours. Still they remain good friends, They come over and have A drink, A bite to eat, we talk, we play, and have fun. Hey that's what life's all about. To try and enjoy as much as you can and to try and spread a little happiness around. About ten years ago I set up A little home studio. I didn..t have an extra room so I made use of my living room. Heck we only used it on Christmas anyway. my wife Toni was very cool and understanding, Hey, She married A musician. Over the next few years you would find us playing a few times a week, and learning the art of recording as well as writing songs the rest of the week. Tim Tablada, my very good friend would handle the drums and percussion, and Dave Galletti would try and hang with us on bass. When Dave moved away we found Jim Shomer. Jim has turned out to be both A great friend and a great bass player. From time to time My brother Mark will sit in and do some tasty guitar parts. Lou Camaratta is an awesome slide player who also pops in now and then. Both my nephews Myles & Demian also come by and play what ever they can get there hands on.They play everything and anything and make it sound good. For about a year we had Richard Bogen behind the drums. He was and still is, one hell of a drummer. Our friend Joi Cary would also come in and lend us her very cool voice. Oh I almost forgot Bill Sheffield, an all around good guy and good acoustic guitarist/songwriter. Well as you can see the musicians in the living room are changing as is the music that comes from from in the living room. Hear you will hear the moods of the moment. Something jazzy, a little blues, some rock & roll, maybe a folk song; What ever it was, it was heart felt. For 2007 Jim and I worked with Glenn Zendrum and did a bunch of shows throughout Phoenix as DogPatch which was a lot of fun. Glenn added a new element to our music making some fine use of the Zendrum. He is one of very few who has that instrument jamming so well. He also has a hell of a good voice. looking forward to 2008.I..m happy to announce Terry Garcia becoming A part of our project. Terry is more then just a drummer & overall nice guy,he is very capable on many instruments. He also brings some really creative song writing talents along with him as well as recording skills. We are honing and polishing and should be playing out in the next month or two. Update..New line up.Terry had went MIA and was replaced with Chuck Mandich on drums.I am happy to let very one know about Ella Mcgee Vocals and David bell Trumpet/percussion & vocals. We have been working up one hell of a set list and A cool new name (Digital Blues) http://www.myspace.com/digitalbluesband and are currantley putting our fforts into some shows.
