About Me

I've been playing guitar for 25 years in various local rock and blues bands around Charleston, SC. Here is the list: ADULTRY, High School hair metal. I thought it was a cool name, but no one else in the band liked it. When we played our first gig at Ashley plaza mall, a friend brought us a banner with our new logo. It was hard to read and instead of Adulty, it looked like it read Poultry! So then we became known as Poultry.INTORSION, High School punk rock free thinking (a lot of words for bad).ACHILLES, Brittish sounding pop rock done by South Carolina red necks. We fought constantly and blamed all our problems on our bassist "Cro" for not practicing enough, but he was the most talented of the band.MINDOG, Funk rock three piece. Now this was a good band. I think we got third place in the rock fights in the early 90's. We put out one CD (casette). We took nude band photos downtown at Spoleto with Watermellons covering our dangly bits. The next week on the cover of Rolling Stone, The Red Hot Chili Peppers were nude, so we never used the pics. Cro was "the man" in this band.Moms House of Burgers, Old Blues standards to make money. I got us fired from Berts for refusing to play another song, then I quit. I had somewhere to be at 2am! Hey, I was single. OK?Struck by 9, My attempt to co-lead sing for a band, ouch! We put out a CD and did fairly well locally, but we were way too serious. Some called us Struck by Nerds, probably fitting.LIVE BAIT, My most favorite band. I joined when Jay Jackson quit. He is now a famous Nashville Pedal Steel virtuoso. We went from county-rock to hard-rock. We quit our jobs and toured the East Coast for 5 years. We released three CD's and sold a total of about 10,000. Our original songs had mass appeal and our singer David Dunning could (and still does) sing his ass off. We thought we would get signed to a record deal, and we came close playing showcases in Atlanta and New York City. We got feedback that the name didn't fit the music, so we changed it. Look for the Live Bait/210 Deluxe myspace page soon.210 Deluxe, Pretty much same as Live Bait, but harder rock. We did well but ran into a bad luck curse for a while. We could not seem to record a CD, and were threatened by a law suit over a management contract we never signed. We played good shows and opened for big bands like The Black Crowes, Hootie, and Cracker. And yes, John Mayer opened for us.Doctor Buzzard, Live Bait leftovers with Donnie Polk on lead vocals. Mostly covers with a few of Donnie's songs.TNT, ACDC Tribute band. I played Angus Young. That's where some of my pics came from. They have a myspace and still play, I had to quit because of scheduling conflicts.Spunjwurthi, Not really sure how I ended up in this band, but its just dumb, fun covers.
