Everything started when I got my hands on Sugarhill Gang’s hit single Rapper’s Delight. I was immediately captivated by this new thing called Rap. I had always listened to good music due to my father’s music knowledge and good ear, but I felt inclined to this new music. Even though I was always criticized by my friends and family, I was mesmerized by the elements of this new music.****************
I began to participate in local break dancing competitions in television shows. Later on a friend loan me an old 2 channel mixer and a turntable. I also got a second turntable from the house and began to use it without my parent’s permission. I began to learn how to cut, mix, scratch, and feel the beauty of Hip Hop music. ****************
As time passed I thought all I had was an unreachable dream and it began to fade for a while. Shortly after my father had purchased a drum set for me and I began to learn quickly and easily. I also learned to play the guitar and bass guitar. Then I became the drummer, vocalist, and songwriter of a local band. Even though it was not a Hip Hop band; Hip Hop was always in me. ****************
Several years after, my brother who is also a producer asked me if I was interested in making Hip Hop music. I flat out said NO ignoring the gift in me and the possibility to make it in this market. Afterwards, I got a hold of famous music software so I started to create beats. I learned on the daily basis and was eventually hooked on it. I thank my brother for opening the door to my awareness and letting me know that this dream is reachable.****************
Now days I play with more sophisticated equipment and professional software. I am still determined to learn as much as possible day by day. Thanks to God, I found my call and I will always continue to do this for the rest of my days.
