Nathalie has been attending the Chicago Photography Center since the winter of 2006. She's always loved black and white images, especially those from the 1930's and 1940's-a time period that offers such rich history. When she views photos from that era, it's as if she's transported back in time. That's why she enjoys that period of photography so much.Nathalie never thought she'd be intrested in photography. It wasn't until she watched the movies A Will of Their Own, Where the Heart Is, and Hope Floats that she was inspired to start taking photographs. While viewing those films, she found herself focused on the scenes where the actresses are processing their film over and over again. Eventually, she stopped caring about the plot of the movie and found the work they were doing much more fascinating. In 2005, she bought her first film camera; a Canon AE-1 made in 1976. Early in her training, she found deveoping negatives and processing prints to be a challenge, yet once she got the hang of it, she found working in the darkroom to be a truly amazing experience.Photograhy allows Nathalie to become the painter she never thought she could become. She paints the setting, shows the detail, tells the story, and draws out the image. She feels it's such a wonderful blessing to be given the chance to see God's handy work through the eye of a photo lens...***
