About Me

Hi everybody and thanks for reading this. I've been a guitarist since I was 12 and have played in many rock'n roll, rockabilly and rock bands in the UK, Australia, Japan and Europe. Currently I'm busy in 2 bands. Firstly, as lead guitarist/vocalist with the Midlands trio 'The Ritz Bros' and doing some great gigs all over The Midlands. I'm also half of a duo with Stevie from The Ritz Bros. We usually go under the name of 'Robby Ritz and Stevie Steve' or sometimes 'Rob et Steve/Steve et Rob' - which is how our French boss used to call us when we used to perform together in Club Med resorts. I've just finished a long stint of 5 years playing lead guitar in the 50s rockn'roll, swing 'n jive band 'The Starlites'. Thanks guys - it was a great ride and hope you continue to rock the UK! Back in 1980, with Birmingham based pop/rock band 'Video', I recorded on the same label as Annie Lennox and Paul Young and our most prominent single was called 'It Just might Happen Again'. Although Mike Reed and Dave Lee Travis played it a lot and many local commercial stations had it on their play lists, it 'just didn't happen'. Tough business! I had a few years in Japan and as well as learning to speak Japanese, I released 2 CDs and made a few TV appearances. I was lucky enough to get one of my rockabilly songs 'Nightime Boy' on the soundtrack of a major Hollywood movie 'The 51st State', starring Samuel L Jackson and Robert Carlysle. (have a listen to it above). These days, I'm also pretty busy in my home studio writing the odd new song and teaching my cherished guitar students. Teaching is a big part of my guitar world and I am lucky to have such a great bunch of learners. Check out 'The Ritz Bros' on these websites www.myspace.com/theritzbros and www.theritzbros.co.uk
