Joanie Hall vanished from Warrenton, Oregon. On 30 September 1983. It was a Friday. Her classmate Mike Moore told the authorities that he had given her a ride from Warrenton High School to the Minit Mart where he had dropped her off.But somewhere along Main Street, Joanie met her fate. And Joanie Hall disappeared forever. Because she never showed up at the grade school where she helped tutor the younger children in her Aunt Ruth's classroom. And no sign of her has ever been found. However, I was recently informed by one of her classmate's at Warrenton High school that he and several of his friends had observed Joanie across the street from of his house on the Friday afternoon that Joanie disappeared. This classmates home had been located within the 1200 block of Main St. This was quite surprising to me as I had always been under the impression that Joanie Hall was last seen alive at the Warrenton Mini-Mart but it now appears that this may not have been the case. This is also interesting because if this classmate's information is accurate, it would mean that Joanie Hall was last observed alive several blocks BEYOND her intended destination of the Warrenton Grade School. Why would Joanie have passed her turn off for the Warrenton Grade School where her Aunt Ruth was waiting for her? Was she meeting someone? Was she lured past her intended destination by someone she knew?But the fact remains that no matter how the events of this tragedy played out in 1983, the body of Joanie Hall has never been found. She has lain alone in an unmarked grave for a quarter of a century. Perhaps because I have learned from family members Joanie had an almost morbid fear of being alone, this seems as if it is almost an extra cruel touch added by her killers. So after suffering the terrible indignities that no person should ever be subjected to, and being denied the very right to live, she was then also denied the right to be buried with dignity. Both of Joanie's parents went to their own graves eleven years later. Both not knowing what had happened to their beloved youngest child. And whoever murdered Joanie Hall, also murdered her parents just as surely as if they had been shot through the heart. And theirs was a long and slow torturous death. But somebody in that small Oregon Coast community knows what happened. And I hope that person will now speak up on behalf of this dead girl. This crime is not over. Joanie Hall, as well as members of her family, are still being emotionally terrorized by not allowing her to be found and buried between her beloved Mom and Dad. With dignity.
