About Me
Singer/Songwriter Robert Herrera performs a variety of genres, selected spontaneously from a 200+ song repertoire. From a very eclectic selection of songs and artists, Robert plays soul, reggae, blues & other contemporary favorites. The combination of spontaneity and variation of styles, leads to an unpredictable, inspired musical experience. Each performance is unique and is never to be repeated or forgotten. A multi-faceted artist, Robert's voice has been likened to Ben Harper, Marvin Gaye & Bradley Nowell. And his guitar accompaniment is rhythmic, yet experimental. Born in Arroyo Grande, California, and having lived & performed in Humboldt County, Santa Cruz, the island of Maui and presently; Sonoma County for over 5 years. He has appeared in over 120 shows a year, at various Sonoma County establishments, including: a weekly show every Wednesday at Upper Fourth (over 1 1/2 years running), every 1st & 3rd Thursday at the Stout Brothers Pub in Santa Rosa. Robert also has performed at the following venues: the Sweet Spot Pub, Russian River Brewing Co., Toad in the Hole Pub, the Wine Spectrum, the Black Rose Pub, the Mystic Theatre, the Last Day Saloon, the Pheonix Theatre, and Jasper O'Farrell's, Ace In the Hole Pub, Hopmonk Tavern and Aubergine Vintage Emporium in Sebastopol. "Clearly, a man of spirit will venture forth, and restore visions of the coveted." ... the roots of music ... those coveted sounds that make innocent listeners of us all. Songs and styles that inspire and provoke - sounds of freedom and movement ... Playing under Humboldt County redwoods, beaches & bars of Santa Cruz, "kanikapilas" w/ the locals in Mauii and their island-inspired beauty - all can effect the stylization of a young man. Thus, with experience lending itself to intensity, and a heart's passion to deliver a message - I look to the past for inspiration, and venture forth . . . .
*Bob Dylan:
" . . . in the dimestores and bus stations, people talk over situations, read books and repeat quotations, draw conclusions on the wall. . . . Some speak of the future, my Love she speaks softly, she knows there's no success like failure. And failure's no success at all. . . ."
*Jack Kerouac:
" I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion."
*Robert Herrera:
" They all come out to see the one-man parade. Some of them come for the serenade."
