Chas de Lacy

Hello everyone - I'm Chas. (Charles). I'm married to Merris and have two (now grown up) daughters - Tanya and Olivia. I enjoy humour and like the witty through to the daft. I'm a calm sort of person and a friend remarked recently that nothing seems to 'faze' me. I suppose it's for others to judge, but I think he's probably right. When I was young my father was in the Forces, and because of that have lived in a few different places. I was born in Redruth (Cornwall), we then moved to Gibraltar, followed by Blackdown (Nr. Frimley in Surrey), Fontainebleau (France) and Newton Abbott (Devon). After that my father took early retirement from the Forces and we moved to Wimbledon (London). I've lived in Croydon since the early 70's.I play lead guitar with a Shadows band called The Evening Shadows (see my friends below, & click on the image), which gives me the chance to play the music that made me (and a million others) want to take up the guitar when I was young.I also play bass guitar with a band called The Fifth Element (see my friends below, & click on the image), playing other mainly 60's music.Over the years I've always loved music (I was only about 14 when I joined my first band), drawing & painting and motor racing - I used to race scooters when I was younger (I was British Scooter Sprint Champion 1972), and saloon cars when I was bit older - playing in bands before, in between & again more recently - generally self-taught at most things I do...discovering how to do things is part of the fun!I often think there are many parallels to be drawn between when I was racing and playing on stage...When I get a bit more time I'll add some more things, and get some more pictures uploaded!
