WHAT THE BLOODY HELL IS GOING ON? There’s a point in ‘Young Blood’, about ¾ of the way through, where it breaks down into wiccy-wah, semi-on funkness and we don’t even feel sick. It must be because this treacly Modest Mouse-stumble pulls it off sublimely, by never sounding like anything other than Animal Collective being pinned down by a dribbling Brian Wilson and force-fed Flaming Lips b-sides.
JJ Dunning, TheFly.co.uk
"God save the Panama Kings. Long may they deliver their tremendously twisted songs. Sometimes you're thinking of Modest Mouse and their intense ways. Elsewhere there's a joyful discord that recalls Wayne Coyne. We can happily bow before the new regents of alternative quirk-soul"
Stuart Bailie, BBC ATL
"Panama Kings have made an impressive impact on the NI music scene in double quick time... Onstage they have swagger and edge, coming across like an outfit who mean business rather than a collection of faux indie hipsters. There are a number of stand out tracks, with ‘Your Children Are Screaming’ already so seared into a section of the crowds consciousness they supply their own backing vocal to accompany the melody. It’s an all round convincing performance that justifies the buzz they’ve been building."
Jonny Tiernan, AU Magazine
