The Holwell Account (Looking for new bassist!)

About Me

The story of the Holwell Account is not fascinating. The lives of those involved are not exceptional...
The Holwell Account was initially formed several years ago in the town of Westbrook, Maine. The brain-child of Mark and Brandon began in an attic bedroom as nothing more than a hobby. Talents and dreams were soon realized and other members were sought out. Over the next few years, line-ups were created and changed, songs were written and destroyed, and ultimately nothing stuck. The reality was that they were young and the local scene lacked dedicated musicians interested in metal. Frustrated, the vocalist and guitarist continued to try, time and again, to fill the voids. It wasn't until 2005 that Rick Verrill, then bassist and friend of the band, decided to try his luck with drums. Pioneer to perfection, Rick is the current drummer. With his unorthodox approach to metal drumming and educated musical background, he gives the Holwell Account the unique sound that keeps you interested long after your initial discovery of the band. Once a member, the three began the writing process of "Unnerve" and "The Beggar's Knot," the first two written songs composed by the band which are still played today, while searching for a second guitarist and bassist.
Finally, during the summer of 2007, amidst a feverish hunt and by a stroke of luck, the band happened upon now-guitarist, Alex. With a background in progressive metal, he approached the band with a very open mind. He quickly became accustomed to the more untraditional writing of experimental metal. A driving force behind the scenes, Alex is known for his use of bar dives, his quick fingers, and gross chugging that add to the Holwell Account's dynamic sound.
It was at this point, in early 2008, still without a bassist, that the Holwell Account first appeared in the local scene. All rookies of the stage, it was apparent that they weren't your average unfocused, sloppy garage band. With a level of technicality not often seen in Maine, they made their voice heard. Brandon quickly captivated audiences with his right-hand hammer-ons, intricate riffs, and complex seven-string tuning while Mark held audiences with thought-provocing lyrics latent in vocabulary (once having the band's style deemed "vocab-core"), intense stage presence, and incomparable vocal style.
It was in the Fall of 2008 that Curran came aboard. After witnessing a performance by the band, he (a guitarist at the time) knew he had what it would take to make the switch. He approached the band soon after and had done an acceptable job of playing the role until he left the band in July of 2009, when he left the band for Jules Verne.
After nine grueling years, the band is still incomplete. Today, with eleven written , "finalized," songs, the Holwell Account has begun the recording process. Playing out constantly, they work to hone their craft while capturing the hearts and devastating the senses. Their story is one of perseverance: determination and dedication to one day pave the way for dreams to become reality.
