SX (pronounced "sex") is an on going collaboration project created by Mavis Concave. SX happens in phases, each with a different counterpart collaborator. There is no set genre, instrumentation, or approach to the recording or performance of the project. All these things are subject to change from one phase to another.
The main purpose of SX is to encourage female activity in music. More specifically music with cause, music with experimentation, music with a message. Music is not meant to be male-dominated. And females in music do not have to work with exclusively other females. SX aims to tip the scales and encourage a gender balanced medium of expression.
SX (Phase I - fall 2005 thru spring 2006): Nina Wright (lyrics and vocals) + Mavis Concave (guitar/bass and drum machine).
SX (Phase 0 - summer 2003): Erica Esham (lyrics and vocals) + Mavis Concave (guitar, drum machines, and sampler).
