..Leesa Mackey was born and raised in Montreal of Irish, Bahamian descent.She is an author, composer, actor and performance artist, who has proven her skill through her recorded work and impressive history of live performances.
Bio
Leesa has always been surrounded and influenced by various styles of music
and culture, from singing in choir, freestyle street dancing, playing Futébol (soccer), to
jammin’ on acoustic/vocal sets, amongst other talents.After years of working as a lead singer with her own band, TAMASHI, and collaborating and performing with other well known artists, (such as… Dshade (Shades of Culture) “All Good’’ and is featured in the upcoming music video, Butta Babees on Zed TV (CBC) and is in their video, “Understand Yourselfâ€, which was nominated for Best Independent Video (2001) on MuchMusic. Toronto based, Black Pearl at the North by North East Music Festival, (2002) & Recorded / Toured with Vancouver's Franchise, Team Canada (EH!) DJ’s at the 2005 TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival (Whistler, BC), 2007- Jah Cutta and the Determination Band - Canadian Tour.) Leesa Mackey, decided to go solo and record an album with Runway Sound Production (an Independent Label founded by Producer Collin Sylex). Together, they created and released her debut album “Leesa Mackey's Breakthroughâ€.
Elements of R'n'B, Pop, Reggae, Ska & Hip-Hop, paired with Leesa's brilliantly powerful voice make this a remarkable first album. The album takes the listener through a melodic journey of carefully considered lyrics which relate to everyday issues in an insightful and conscious way.Leesa has been involved in many collaborative efforts throughout her career as
