About Me

Fabio Oggioni was born in the late spring of 1967. He's basically and fundamentally a bass player, an electric Fender jazz bass player. He really loves to play them and their characteristic sound. The story started because the kid grew up in the 70s, listening and listening to the music that was played during those years, not only on radio and tv. The older brother let him to use a vinyl records player to play and to listen his records, and soon Fabio started to evaluate what more he liked... american disco, black music, r&b, soul and all the music that had a lot of rhythm...but rich of good taste too. Later, in the college years he felt the need to be active in relation with music, and no more passive in the mere listening and he choose to try to play an instrument. The choice was an electric bass, by virtue of many guitarists that lived close by him. He discovered the pleasure to play and interplay with friends. Just for fun. To be present to few important live concerts, led him to focus on this passion. Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke, Yellowjackets, Allan Holdsworth, Billy Cobham, Steps Ahead, Earth Wind & Fire, Al Jarreau, were among the firsts artists and groups he saw, in the early eighties, and he was touched deeply by all those different events. Passing by the years the taste and enthusiasm for jazz and whatever is related to this huge world of styles became an inexhaustible motive power to know more and to listen more and more. Playing on records first, and by lessons later, he early became a young reference in the local scene at the school time. Now, Fabio is playing his jazz basses in different contexts with companions of life, friends and whoever has the same spirit to music and willingness to enjoy in creating good music. He played and he's still playing when the chance is offered, locally in the italian area, in clubs, small venues and public festivals; funk, jazz, fusion & latin music with few bands by semi/pro musicians, and with a salsa latin orchestra. His choice today is to listen to good musicians, to get the inspiration for life and for playing music. www.myspaceeditor.it
