KURSK

KURSK first recorded material in 1988. Prior to this Niall, along with Derek, belonged to Insane Fall Pilot in Stoke on Trent, UK during the wonderful "lets form a band" period in the early 80's (other bands around at that time were The Fitz, Strange Brew, etc. . . . . worth checking out The Kettleons to see how part of The Fitz mutated into the 2000's). Craig, friend from when all three of us lived in Canada, wrote and recorded extensively throughout the 80's and early 90's individually but also with Derek in the collaborative EDGC. Many influential recordings came from the solo efforts of Derek and Craig as well as EDGC. Dereks solo work has been on hold for the last couple of years but hopefully will resume. All the recordings were done on an old Fostex X-15 and a few BOSS effects pedals. Input both indirect and direct came from Derek and Craig over the years. Random cassette compilations of music and songs were released from 1988 to 1998 but none were of any real quality. With improvement in the studio CD's began to be released, the first one eventually coming out in 1999. There have now been 17 CD albums, including two compilationsAt present the studio is going fully digital and hopefully the quality of releases will improve even more.Just after Xmas, I burned 8 copies of the latest Kursk CD. Prior to shipping I listened to a copy and found annoying clicks and dropouts. I then discovered the problem was with the CD burner in my studio and all CD's were ill. So, I destroyed them and have only just been able to find a stand alone burner. The next CD (eg: the one I did around Xmas 2007) will be done AGAIN in the next 2 weeks. Also a "single" will be shipped out to the usual people!!!
