Quartet music is the foundation of all Gospel music which influenced other types of music from R&B to Rock-N-Roll to Hip-Hop. Many of today's successful Pop/ R&B singers, from, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and Boyz To Men and others, trace their roots back to Gospel and Gospel's roots trace back to Quartet music.
Make preparations for the 17th Annual American Gospel Quartet Convention! The AGQC will convene January 20, 2009 and, will culminate with the Hall Of Fame Induction ceremony at 7:00pm, January 24th, 2009
The AGQC is a ministry that ministers to music ministers. Our foremost exhortation is to re-establish Jesus as the foundation of our music. As a body, we want to return to being a living witness to the gospel about which we sing. Alas, whether or not you sing, or sing quartet, we endeavor to educate and/or enhance the ministries of those who attend the convention.
To accomplish our call, we have created a worshipful learning environment. Many facets of the music craft, as well as advanced management insights are offered in our daily seminars. Quartet music is a fountain that continues to pour out its portion into the overflowing cup called Gospel music.
The AGQC, appropriately serves milk and meat to the babes and the veterans who have answered their call to sing the Gospel. By HIS grace and through HIS mercies we have been given a heart, mind and, the opportunity to serve the Lord. The sword we swing is the Quartet sound. A sound, we are proud to say, was born in Jefferson County, Alabama! We are so thankful to the Lord for preserving this music and using us to serve Him by promoting a sound that has given birth to many others genres of music.
We encourage and exhort one another. More important, we take care to lay a solid foundation for our youth and develop the skills of these new disciples of the discipline. We do not have “shows†or “performancesâ€. Each year, for five days in the month of January, the greatest gathering of Quarteters pilgrimage to the birthplace of this unique American sound and have church! And the Lord does the rest! Hallelujah!
It is our commission to first, preach the gospel to all who believe that they have been called to go out into the world and sing praises unto the Lord. We then endeavor to equip and perfect ministries. In so doing, we strive to preserve and promote a most precious and original music to the glory the Lord. We treasure both the traditional and progressive harmonies and, the innovative instrumental arrangements that continue to advance our “soundâ€, and introduce to the world salvation through Jesus, our Lord and Savior
