"It sounds like what would happen if Waylon Jennings, Doc Watson, and Bill Monroe moved to Seattle to make a grunge album".... At times, they evoke the spirit of an old time string band, with the acoustic roots of bluegrass and folk music clearly present, but with the drive of rollicking drums pushing it along at breakneck speeds. At other times the sound combines with roots rock, and even punk influences. An old beat up acoustic, flat picking around an Appalachian melody. An overdriven telecaster mimicking the sounds of a pedal steel. Fast Nashville runs, haunting soundscapes, the speed and rhythm of a hellbent locomotive, the occasional slow lilt of a lonesome country waltz. Their brand of original music is unclassifiable within conventional genres. Bluegrass, country, folk, rock; we’ll call it Americana for now.
