MyGen Profile Generator I am DJ Legacy aka the Mixtress. I am the one and only female DJ in the city and state. I am the best female DJ holding it down in Nashville. Born and raised in Oakland, CA I fell in love with music at a very young age. I started DJing in high school, doing house parties, family events, and more. In 2005, I moved to Nashville, TN to attend college at Fisk University. As a freshman at Fisk University I felt it was best to place all of my focus on school since it was a new experience for me. After my freshman year I began to DJ again as DJ Miss L. During that time I had done some small events which included teen parties, house parties, community events and more. As DJ Miss L, I met DJ C-Lo, DJ Rage, DJ Showtime and more.
In 2008 a new season came before me with different types of gigs. I then changed my name from DJ Miss L to DJ Legacy because I felt like I was the heir to the throne of the title “female DJ”. Although I am a female DJ, I have never and will never limit myself to be just a “female” DJ, I am the DJ. I have a lot of respect for all the DJs before me in Nashville and abroad. I have a number of big brothers and sisters in the game such as DJ Rage, DJ Whitey, DJ Nuttin Nice, DJ Showtime, DJ Ron C, and DJ Backside.
My club credentials include U-Sing, Juice Bar, Rhythm Kitchen, The Firm, Valentino, Anthony’s Showplace, Nocturnal, and The Velvet Lounge just to name a few. I have done events with Bootz from Flavor of Love II, Black from Flavor of Love III, Kinfolk Kia Shine, and more. Outside of the club I have done community events at Pinky’s Northside Car Detail, Cameron Middle School, Fisk University and Whites Creek High School amongst many places. I have not limited myself to only one type of party I have done teen parties, community events, weddings, birthday parties, alternative parties, hood parties, college parties, poetry sets and more. Outside of DJing, I have produced music, promoted events, planned events and more. If I am not working in the music industry you could most likely find me playing softball somewhere.
What is DJ Legacy doing now? I am the house DJ at Valentino (265 Hermitage Ave) and DJ at Swiss Wear clothing store (2501 Clarksville Pk.). As a Fiskite in the 2008-2009 school year I am one of the current chairs of the homecoming committee. Along with going on tour this fall. Along with all of the above I am being scouted by a couple Crews. Also, I am working on nine mixtapes, yes I said NINE with more being added to the table. I am working on mixtapes with the Wet Dymes, a Kentucky artist, G.L.U.W. Entertainment (What It GLUW!!!), GameGreen Entertainment, Valentino and Mt. Calvary Madison Baptist Church. I also have three personal mixtapes on the way. If ya’ll do not know about me or have not heard any of my mixes, I do not just blend the beginning and endings of songs. I take two songs and make them one.
I was nominated for SEA best Female DJ of the Year 09.
What I do is not for the money, this is my craft. I can only get better and that’s all I am doing every day. To all the haters, perpetrators, and instigators…. Thank you for the free promotion! Don’t underestimate me.
