Kayla was born in Hamilton, Canada. She moved to Ottawa soon after and growing up she started to perform in her mother's theater company, " The New Star Children's Theatre" At the age of 11, she, her mother, and twin brother, moved to Calfornia when she had just finished her 13th official play.
After moving to California, her mother started her Theatre Company again, making Kayla the Choreographer and Assistant Director. Very nervous, she took on the role with her little experience[especially in the dancing department] and continued the job until the theatre closed in 2005, after 5 good years. She also performed in every show done, and co-wrote the music for 3 musicals [Peter Pan, Snow White, and Aladdin.] On the side, Kayla performed in school musicals, one acts, talent shows, choir, and more.
After moving to Sac, with her mother's theatre gone, Kayla stuck to High School shows for awhile. In her Junior year she directed and co-wrote her own one act entitled " Just A One Time Thing". She also branched out into other theatre's, doing shows such as The Secret Garden, The Emperor's New Clothes[for which she was nominated for an Elly Award!] , Jesus Christ Superstar and Jekyll and Hyde. . Over the summer of 2007 she performed at local street markets, and was accepted into the traveling performance group, Up With People.
Unfortunately, with a lack of financial support, Kayla remained in Sacramento, and is still choreographing full time for the theatre, as well as teaching voice lessons for young kids. In Sept. 2009 she will be attending AMDA in LA to pursue her career as a musical performer. In her spare time, she performs at cafe's and small venues.
