Born to Caribbean parents, from neighboring islands in the British West Indies, Mikeah was raised in the arid climate of southern California’s Mojave Desert.
Interested in dance and creative performance at an early age Mikeah studied dance, transitioned to theatre, discovered performance art, and has endeavored to unlock what it all means ever since.
At 17 Mikeah earned the distinction of Best Solo Performance from the Drama Teachers Association of Southern California (DTASC) at the annual Fall Festival competition held at North Hollywood High school. This earned him the honor of performing at an industry showcase held at Paramount Studios hosted by Paula Prentiss, Richard Benjamin, and Kevin Spacey. Later that year he went on to represent the state of California as 1 of 3 finalist groups at the International Thespian Festival held in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Mikeah went on to earn a BA in Communications from the University of California, San Diego, 2001. While in San Diego his interests flourished, he competed regularly in hip-hop dance competitions as a member of the CSA (Chinese Student Association) dance team, eventually earning a spot as a promotional hip-hip dancer for Z90 Radio Station, opening their annual SummerJam concert featuring Usher, LL Cool J, K-Ci and JoJo and others. Mikeah was also chosen by the American conceptual artist, John Baldessari, to appear in his permanent installation on the façade of Geisel Library as one of his “eternal studentsâ€, The images represent the ethnic multiplicity of student life and are embedded into glass window panes that stand 9 feet high.
In November, 2001, Mikeah moved to NY with 3 bags and a 1 month sublet.
