FRECKLEFACE CUNNINGHAM is a new project featuring Tom McKee, Mikey Domiz and Clay Parnell. McKee and Parnell both cut their teeth as members of Philly band BROTHERS PAST, while Domiz is a relatively new face on the scene. Don't be fooled though -- his catalog of beats will take producing to the next level. The group began making music in 2006, when McKee and Domiz were introduced by mutual friend Victor Sgro. During that first session, several memorable tracks were created but more importantly an instant chemistry was born. Parnell was recruited in 2007 to provide the dirtiest basslines known to man. Since then, this exciting new trio has collaborated on more than 100 tracks of varying styles.
Initially a hiphop-based project, FFC has sought to expand its sound with every new track, incorporating more of McKee's songwriting and Miz's great ear for sampling. All of our drums are patterned and arranged along with samples on an MPC. Most of the tracks are done in one take to preserve the spontaneity of a live performance. Our sound is a mashup of musical styles, but if you took hiphop, soul, downtempo, Motown, classical, and ultra-glitchy electronica and put it in a blender, you might just find yourself with a Freckleface Cunningham milkshake. And damn, it tastes GOOD.
For everyone asking about the future, please be a little patient. We've got big plans in the works. We're working on an FFC mixtape and seeking out talented MCs, DJs, musicians and vocalists for interesting collaborations. People want to know when they'll be able to check out FFC live, and we're working on that too. Good things come to those who wait. In the meantime, help us spread the word about this project. And a very heartfelt thanks to all of our friends and fans who support this project. We couldn't do it without you.
