Edilio Bermudez

About Me

Edilio Bermudez was born and raised in Puerto La Cruz, a city located in the north east coast of Venezuela. Edilio started playing classical violin at the age of 12 with the Youth Symphonic Orchestra in his home town. Three years later he was awarded a scholarship to go to Paris (France) where he spent 5 years mastering the violin in several conservatories. While in Paris he picked up the bass guitar and taught himself to play, utilizing some of the practicing routines he used with the violin. Shortly after that, he started playing professionally in the Latin scene in Paris. Falling in love with his second instrument he continued to practice and explore new styles of music. Going back to Venezuela he started playing with saxophone master SANTIAGO BAQUEDANO and that’s how he was introduced to jazz. Falling in love with it, he stopped playing classical music for a while. Wanting to do something with the violin besides classical music, he decided to go to Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts for a diploma in jazz performance. In Boston, Edilio continued playing in the jazz and Latin scene sharing stage with world renowned percussionist GIOVANNI HIDALGO, Berklee professor and vibraphone player VICTOR MENDOZA, recorded with well renowned drummer BOB MOSES, pianist DANILO PEREZ and backed-up many of the salsa singers of that time including: MARVIN SANTIAGO, GIRO, VITTY RUIZ , LALO RODRIGUEZ and many more. Now in Miami, Florida, Edilio has been involved full time in the music industry as a composer, arranger, teacher, violinist and bassist, touring with JULIO IGLESIAS, JUAN GABRIEL, JOSE LUIS RODRIGUEZ, CELIA CRUZ, NELSON PINEDO, REY RUIZ, DANNY LOZADA(ex-cantante de la CHARANGA HABANERA) NESTOR TORRES…………
