The original team (based in Oklahoma City) competed in the Continental Basketball Association from 1990 to 1997, when they were League Champions.A new team (previously to have been called the Oklahoma City Cavalry) is set to begin play in 2007-08. The team was originally scheduled to play in the American Basketball Association. The team will be coached by Micheal Ray Richardson (former Albany Patroons coach who was fired for stereotypical Jewish comments), and was going play at Abe Lemons Arena on the campus of Oklahoma City University before Lemons Arena backed out. Due to the lack of support and the city's desire for a NBA team, the team decided to look elsewhere to place the franchise. Cavalry Dance Team auditions will hold its second round of dance team auditions Friday, September 21, 2007 at Dance Phase located at 3601 S. Broadway, Suite 900, Edmond, Oklahoma.â€œThe Cavalry and I are so excited to be in Oklahoma and holding auditions in Lawton,â€ said Shelby McClure, Cavalry dance team coordinator/choreographer. â€œWe are seeking dancers who not only have a passion to dance, perform and entertain; but those who are excited to be a part of a community and grow with the team.â€
