Guitarist, composer, producer and guitar tutor Jay Parmar is influenced by acclaimed guitar players George Lynch, Steve Vai, Steve Stevens and a variety of other players and styles. Jay's own playing style reflects the elements of the 80’s virtuosos combined with exotic, eastern and contemporary sounds and techniques to create his own blend of high octane melodic guitar playing. Jay likes to create musical textures that the listener can feel and hear, and that has established him as a world class player.
He released his first solo album "Strange Day" in 2005. What he created had listeners captivated. Guitarists reached for their instruments. The CD showcased Jay’s skills as a guitar player, writer, engineer and producer. Even now, the songs sound fresh and new, but retaining the essence of virtuosity of Jay’s heroes. “Strange Day†is a no compromise guitar journey. â€Strange Day†is a true solo effort. Jay played all of the instruments on the album, as well as completing the production and packaging artwork. The CD was received very well by press, fans and the industry alike and gained praise from reviewers and professional musicians.
Having stepped away from his previous career, Jay now works exclusively in music. 2009 has seen the completion and opening of his recording studio, Sacred Sound. Jay engineers and produces in the studio, teaches guitar and writes articles for www.alloutguitar.com.
And most importantly work has been put into the follow up album to Strange Day. The new album which will feature vocals as well as virtuosic guitar playing and will include some special guest appearances.
Jay will also be touring as one of the guitar players with rock band Eden’s Curse during their May tour with Stratovarius and Firewind.
Ever writing music, Jay is also working on 2 further CDs drawing on different musical influences and styles, which are due for completion and release in 2009.
Jay has endorsement deals with Vengeance Guitars, Randall USA Amplifers, Bare Knuckle Pickups, Elixir Guitar Strings and Cables, and Line 6 Effects.
Previous projects include the George Lynch tribute album “Will Play For Lynch†(on which Jay played 3 tracks, including the acclaimed Dokken track “Mr. Scaryâ€, and which he produced and released through his own label); he was invited to record solos for Arizona hard rock band Wycked Synn for their second album “In For The Killâ€, and he has traded solos on Twilight Odyssey’s cover version of the Dokken song “Unchain The Night†(which was released as part of the compilation CD “A Tribute To The Glory of 80’s Metalâ€).
