freelance writer and soon to be novelist

About Me

Welcome to my "other" myspace page. You can preview some different pieces that I have written in the blog entries above. Most of the stuff up is research or school projects, but I have some fiction and other random verbage lying around as well. Of course, the better stuff is all in my closet waiting to be polished off (or finished) and published. If you are a business looking for a freelance writer, and you linked here from my portfolio, I hope you take the time to look around. I graduated with honors from Eastern Washington University with a bachelor's degree in literary studies and a minor in psychology. I am currently employed full-time at a PR company who promotes films for a major motion film company. Feel free to look me up on monster.com to view more details about what I do there. I do freelance work on the side as a hobby and to keep my writing going and improving. But, I love writing, and I would love to work with you! Who knows! Maybe, someday, I will write full-time, and do something else on the side. So, thanks for stopping by and I look forward to writing with you in the future!

My Interests

I love soccer. I was on a team for about ten years but have only played for fun since then. I like swimming though, and running, hiking, camping, riding my horse and walking my dog. All outdorsy stuff is usually compatible with me. I used to like homework but too much of a good thing always seems to spoil it...so that fluxuates. I play the piano for fun, and I'm an up and coming author...I am, Lord willing, planning to publish my latest novel, which is still being finished. It is my sixth attempt...as in, it is the sixth novel that I have worked on, but I quit before I passed the 70 page mark on the pervious five. But, this one remains hopeful! That's the problem with writing. The more you do it, the more you realize what you have already written isn't as good as you thought it was when you started... :)

I'd like to meet:

Aspiring writers and authors who have a passion for writing!Join 'The Tree House'The Tree House is a writer's group/blog. Get to know other people out there who love to write. Network with published and aspiring authors. Get feedback on your own work and find out how other writers can help you succeed. And, have fun at the same time!

Music:

I don't have much time to listen to music but when I do I listen to Christian music. Not hymns, or slow stuff with organs playing in the background, or full voice choirs, but the better alternative Christian stuff. I also like opera, although it isn't the best driving music...it's kinda hard to sing along with to say the least. :)

Movies:

Classics:The Princess Bride, Mission Impossible, The Pelican Brief, I Love Trouble, Pride & Pejudice, Little WomenNew(er) Movies:Just Like Heaven, Spider-Man II, Lord of the Rings, The Count of Monte CristoOther Stuff You Can't Miss:The Incredibles, Shrek

Television:

Would rather read a book....or write one!

Books:

Mere Christianity (C.S. Lewis), The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini), The Lord of the Rings (J.R. Tolkien), Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen) This Side of Paradise (F. Scott Fitzgerald), You Can't Go Home Again (Thomas Wolfe) and way too many more to list..

what makes a great writer?

Why is is that so many writers hold back when they write?  Why is it that so many times, we press our pens to the paper, and we pause?  To produce great literature, and to write something t...

On Winnie the Pooh and Going about in Circles

My professor stood in the center of our circled desks and, stroking his beard, said to us...to graduate, you must come up with 20-30 pages of how you perceive literary criticism and theory. It is not ...

I am not a poet

Poetry has never really been my strong suit, perhaps because I haven't really ever put an extraordinary amount of effort into it.  I could tell you what countless other authors meant when they wr...
