I play traditional Swedish folk music on violin. My first and most important exposure to folk music was the old tunes from Vendel (the small place where I grew up) played by fiddlers and nyckelharpa players such as Sture Sahlström and Bosse Larsson (the nephew of the legendary fiddler Viksta-Lasse). In 1998 I received the honourable title Riksspelman ("National fiddler"). In 1999 I received the prestigious Viksta-Lasse scholarship and in 2004 the Päkkos-Gustaf scholarship in Bingsjö.
I've played and given concerts in various locations in Sweden and abroad, sometimes in collaborations with musicians with different music styles. Today I play mostly with my dearest friend and nyckelharpa queen Cecilia Osterholm. (www.erikaochcecilia.com). We have released two CD:s; "Parlor" in 2004 and "Orhangen" in 2007, and have performed at festivals such as the Folk & Tanz im Rudolstadt, Germany; Folk Alliance in Memphis, USA; Bisasoa Folk in Spain; Ris-orangis and Villarceaux in France; Kaustinen in Finland and at festivals in Alexandria and Cairo, Egypt.
In partnership with some other dear friends I released the CD "After SpelStina" in 2006 (www.myspace.com/spelstina).
For many years I have also been a part of the group Trollrike Spelmän from Vendel (including the meister Sture Sahlström). I also participate on other cd's ranging from singer songwriters to jazz to classical music.
